If you are deep in debt, you can't make a better start than by visiting the
Citizens Advice Bureau for free credit debt relief advice
They have offices in almost every town and city in the United Kingdom. Go and
see them. You will find them very friendly and helpful.
I can't count the amount of credit card junk mail I get in the post on an almost
weekly basis. These card companies try so hard to hook and reel us in. I
think there should be a limit to how many flyers they send out in a year. Maybe
once a month is enough. I know it is for me, because I simply rip them up. At
this time in my life, I know their game well enough. If anything I'm searching
for credit card debt relief; not more and more credit cards in which i can get
further in to debt. Who is with me on this one? I can only imagine the millions
of young British people that are all too familiar with the credit card debt
burden. Death to all credit cards!
It may sound funny or strange, but I can recall the exact point in time in my
life when I let this nasty credit card trouble into my life. It was of course
when I was a naive university student. At the tender age of twenty, I simply
assumed like many do that I could easily pay it all back sometime in the future,
once I had a great job. Yes, there was no credit card debt relief needed for
this guy. Yep, right! And just like most other young people, I got carried away
with it all. Sure, I can have those nice things for myself now, or so I thought,
because it will be so easy to pay it back down the road. I can go out on the
town and use my card, because now is what's important, today, not
tomorrow. Wow, was I ever so silly! These days I'm not duped so easily. Any
credit card adverts I receive, I bin without even reading them. Last year
I took it upon myself to finally seek out help and get some credit card debt
relief. I did this by consolidating my student loans and credit card debt in to
one loan spreading payments over five years. It was a biggish debt, but now I
have much fewer problems to grapple with monthly. I can't help but be happy
about my new low interest rate. This is where the credit card companies always
get you. They increase those interest rates to such high levels that you never really
make any progress just by paying the minimum balance due each month.
Don't feel down if you're struggling with your credit cards. This has pretty
much been deemed as part of the British way of life. The trick now is to find a
way to get valid credit card debt relief. You can do this without too much
bother. Try the Internet. This is where I found guidance for credit card debt
relief, and it's where I applied for the consolidation loan. Another route is to
consult a financial advisor. He or she will be able to get you on the right
track back to financial stability and security. One company that will be able to
help you is
Chiltern Debt Management
You can talk to them on the phone. It's a great relief once you get your
finances under control. You can move on with your life.
Control Credit Card Debt
In order to have the feeling of true financial security most
of us us need to eliminate credit card debt altogether. This may not be the best
approach. A little bit of debt can be a good thing. As long as you keep control
of things it is best to avoid completely eliminating all your plastic card
debts.
It may not seem to make a lot of sense at the time, but keeping some debts
active can actually help your credit rating. Your personal credit score hinges
on your ability to make payments on your bills. If you eliminate your card debt
you may not be able to show a good consistent payment history.
Also, many people like to shut down their card accounts after they eliminate
their debt. Really this is not the best way, either. The more active in balance
accounts you have, the better your personal report will appear to future
creditors. When you dispose of your card debt you still need to keep the cards
active for show.
When a bank, building society or card company looks at your report they are
looking to see your past history as well as your current capacity to pay on
time. The last thing that a potential creditor wants to see is a number of
closed accounts.
When a number of accounts are closed abruptly, this waves a red flag at the
potential creditor. He really wants to view your payment history but instead he
faces a solid wall of closed accounts. While it is great to have your accounts
paid in full, if you want to borrow more money in the future, it really doesn’t
do much for your payment history.
This is not to say that you shouldn’t eliminate credit card debt. However, it is
better to eliminate most of it with a lump sum and keep paying a bit off each
month. Written by
